Recreation

There is recreation for all ages in and around Cranbury.  Locally, Village Park has tennis and basketball courts at your disposal as well as swings and climbing structures for kids. You’ll also find a nice picnic pavillion to enjoy! When it’s cold enough (like this past winter) Brainerd lake in the middle of town freezes and is opened for skating. This past winter it was humming with activity, from hockey games to beginner skaters – all having a great time on the ice!

The West Tract, a preserved wooded area adjacent to the elementary school, has wonderful trails (developed by an eagle scout project) for walking, cross-country skiing and bird watching. Bordering the Millstone River, there are many interesting waterfowl species to be spotted – such as kingfishers and great blue herons. Fox have made a home in one of the meadows and can be spotted if you’re lucky!

Cranbury shares a Little League program with Plainsboro and a soccer program with East Windsos PAL. There are also travel teams for those who want a higher challenge.  The elementary school has orgainzed teams for soccer, baseball, tennis and track.

Nearby is Mercer County Park – about 10 minutes away- that offers ice skating (in season) and lessons. There are also biking trails and a dog park. There are several private riding stables within a short distance for lessons.

in Plainsboro, about 10 minutes from town is the Plainsboro Preserve which is a  NJ Audubon Society location that has family programs every Saturday.
